War of Words

What are words?

Foot soldiers of the mind,

Spewed forth from the arsenal of the mouth,

Riding on the wind they come, riding fast or slow,

Breaking in and climbing up our ears.

Oh, ears! Those clumsy guards of our fortress,

Keeps no account of visitors or raiders.

Words break in and wreak havoc,

Many an impregnable fortress has it breached.

The words go out on a conquering spree;

Sneaking in they conquer several minds.

Like thieves they come;

Rob rich palaces of thought;

Plunder riches; imprison creativity.

Then commences the onslaught,

When words cross the moat of logic,

Many dreams are killed, ideas murdered, fear instilled.

The poor monarch of Reason dethroned.

Kingdoms fall like dominoes,

Day after day,

Plagued by the black death of words.

At the end of the long-drawn siege,

Anarchy! Anarchy reigns supreme.

Hearken my fellow brothers,

My words come as an emissary.

Let them serve as reinforcements,

Be prepared to face the worst.

Fortify your minds, I say;

Let Reason prevail.

Defend this onslaught of twisted words,

Let not false prophets inspire you,

Don’t get drawn in by mere utterances.

The king of Reason is a good fellow.

Now that the battle lines have been drawn;

Do your best to win it all;

My friends; this War of Words.
